South Chiller - East Precinct Chiller

Description:

The project consisted of construction of a new facility to house both the new and future chiller, cooling tower, emergency generator and electrical switchgear equipment to operate the new East Precinct Chiller Plant.  The function of the new facility is to provide chilled water for cooling the new Medical Research Building No. 4 and the Proposed Medical Building No. 5, as well as to provide chilled water backup for the University Health Sciences Center.  The facility has a two million gallon tank for chilled water storage and is connected to the Central Chiller Plant via approximately one mile of underground supply and return piping and electrical duct bank.

In addition to the construction of this new facility, this project included an access road for the new University Parking Deck and associated site improvements such as landscaping at the parking lot and site concrete.
