The Archaerium at Historic Jamestowne

Location: Jamestown, VA
Construction Schedule: November 2004 - February 2006
Construction Value: $2,232,000

Description:

The project consists of approximately 8,000 s.f. of new construction to house a Museum illustrating life in Historic Jamestown.  The structure is “floating” over the original brick foundations of the First Statehouse at Jamestown and has glass portals in the floor through which to view the masonry foundations below. The building’s Architecture has a contemporary flair with copper cladding on the exterior and utilizes a closed loop Geo-Thermal HVAC System.

The site work associated with the project had to be performed very delicately due to the high probability of encountering Historic Artifacts every time a shovel goes into the earth.
